The Hill Country of Sri Lanka is located in the South-central part of the island and Nuwara Eliya is one of the main cities in the hill country.
The city of Nuwara Eliya situated at an altitude of 6182 ft. above sea level was developed by the British tea planters creating for them a home away from home. Nuwara Eliya is also called Little England and up to date many old buildings of colonial architecture are seen in their well preserved and maintained state.
There are four ways of access to Nuwara Eliya and each of them offers the traveler spectacular views and sceneries of their own. The winding road way, Hilly terrain, Waterfalls and lush green Tea plantations that clothe the hills form a never ending gigantic green carpet.
As one descends in the East direction, Bandarawela another town initiated by the British is found. Although Nuwara Eliya is the more popular one, Bandarawela is also a splendid place for relaxation.
The hill country of Sri Lanka also offers perfect conditions for Hiking, Trekking and Mountain Climbing.
