City of Kandy
Kandy nestled in mid hill country of Sri Lanka is indeed a must-visit place for any visitor. This city with its own characteristic beauty also bears the significance of being the last kingdom to be released to British who had command over the entire island but Kandy until it was ceded to them in the year 1815 AD.
The more important factor is that the temple of the Sacred Tooth relic temple is situated right in the middle of the city of Kandy.
The Esela Perehare (great colorful pageant of carrying the Tooth Relic) that parades the streets of Kandy each year in July/August, is a spectacular event witnessed by thousands of Sri Lankans and overseas visitors.
